Seagulls Split Games in First Week of July
The San Francisco Seagulls wrapped up a lighter four-game schedule with an even 2-2 record, bringing their overall mark to 7-19 on the season. The week featured back-to-back wins in between two tough losses, offering both encouraging signs and reminders of the work still ahead.
The week began with a familiar road matchup against the Walnut Creek Crawdads. Despite tying the game in the seventh with two runs, the Seagulls were unable to keep pace, falling 7-4.
San Francisco bounced back on Thursday in Sonoma, earning a 6-4 win against the Stompers. The team collected eight hits on the day, including three from Ben Coke, who helped pace the offense.
Momentum continued on Saturday as the Seagulls returned home to face the Menlo Park Legends. With a strong bullpen and disciplined at-bats, San Francisco came away with a 8-4 victory on twelve hits and zero errors. This marked their first set of back-to-back victories since mid-June.
Unfortunately, the week closed on a rough note Sunday in a rematch with the Stompers. Sonoma's offense exploded in the third inning and never backed down, handing the Seagulls an 18-2 loss in one of their toughest outings of the year.
While the week ended on a difficult result, the Seagulls are preparing to spend a week on the road, starting Wednesday the 9th against the Arroyo Seco Saints. The team will then go on to play the Conejo Oaks on Thursday at CLU's Ullman Stadium, and finally a three-game series up the coast against the San Luis Obispo Blues.
